How the journey works
Five steps, continuously improved through practice.
Fellows are prepared for the realities of classrooms and communities, supported in school and developed as leaders who can keep contributing after the Fellowship.
Recruit and select.
Open, merit-based outreach and selection focus on leadership potential, academic readiness, integrity, resilience, communication, cultural responsiveness, coachability and commitment to educational equity.
Build a foundation before placement.
Pre-service learning covers curriculum, pedagogy, classroom culture, safeguarding, learner assessment, inclusion and community engagement.
Teach, learn and receive support.
Fellows are placed in pairs in public schools, supported through coaching, school-based supervision, peer learning and continuous professional development.
Measure what supports better practice.
Implementation tracks learner progress, attendance, classroom practice, school experience, community engagement and Fellow growth to improve the model.
Build a lifelong alumni pathway.
After the Fellowship, alumni continue contributing through teaching, school leadership, policy, public service, research, entrepreneurship and community development.
Fellow growth
Learning to lead in four connected domains.
Fellows develop personal leadership, instructional leadership, community leadership and systems leadership. Coaching, mentorship and reflective practice link these domains to everyday classroom and community work.
Early progress measures are intended to support improvement, not make unverified outcome claims. A functioning learner-safety activity, reflective practice cycle and coaching evidence are examples of the kinds of implementation signals the programme will monitor.
Year 1 focus
Three outcomes that reinforce one another.
A child who feels safe and supported is better able to engage in learning; a child building foundational literacy and numeracy is better able to participate and lead; visible gains in safety and agency build community trust for deeper learning work.
Social and emotional competence
Support empathy, conflict management, emotional awareness and the wellbeing needed for learning to stick.
Learner agency and safety
Give learners opportunities to speak up, lead small tasks and participate in a safer, more inclusive peer culture.
